¡welcome To Salzburg!

We would be delighted for you to visit Salzburg. The city will surprise you for sure. It doesn’t matter when you’re going, as said by the Austrian poet Hermann Bahr, “Salzburg is always beautiful, and you always think that is the best season to visit the city…”

The world’s perception of Salzburg is due to the incomparable magic of the silhouette of the city, the beauty of the landscape and for sure the fortune that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756 in this city.
Furthermore, the architecture and harmony of the old quarter of the city at either side of the river Salzach, encouraged UNESCO to declare the historic district a humanitarian heritage site in 1997.
As the city of the world famous summer festival, Salzburg is the centre of the musical world between July and August. In addition, during the year the city offers a lot of cultural shows with over 4.000 events of all kind. For that reason it would be advisable to rent an apartamento en salzburgo in order to make the most out of your trip. It’s not very difficult to find alojamiento salzburgo, and it’s always the best way to relax.
The Most Important Film

Visitors from all over the world use the opportunity to see the locations in the city of Salzburg, where the film 'The Sound of Music' was shot. Especially amongst fans from overseas the film has reached a unique status and incredible popularity - and many of them dream of following Maria's footsteps at least once in their life.

If you want to test the movies worldwide popularity, just start humming a few of the famous tunes and songs like 'Edelweiss' wherever on the planet you just happen to be - and within a moment you will be joined by complete strangers in a merry 'The Sound of Music Chorus'.

If you visit Salzburg, here are the locations where the film was shot:

The Benedictine Convent on Nonnberg: it is here that nuns sing 'Maria'

Mirabell Gardens and Mirabell Palace : Maria and the children sing 'Do-Re-Mi'

Residenz Square and Residenz Fountain : Maria crosses Residenz square in a bus on her way from Nonnberg Convent to the Trapp Villa singing 'I have confidence in me'

Felsenreitschule: here, the Trapp Family performed its farewell song and Baron von Trapp sang Edelweiss

St. Peter's Cemetery : it was here that the dramatic flight scenes were filmed.

Leopoldskron Palace: the façade facing the lake represented the von Trapp residence

The Sound of Music Pavillon: can be found at Hellbrunn Palace today, in the movie it was still located at Leopoldskron Palace. One of the most famous and romantic scenes was filmed here: 'I am 16 going on 17'

Frohnburg Palace: courtyard and main front were used as a backdrop

Other scenes where filmed outside of the city, for example at Anif Palace, Hohenwerfen Castles, Mondsee, Fuschl, St. Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang.

In 1965 the film was nominated for 10 Oscars and actually won 5: best film, best director, best sound recording, best script and best musical adaptation. They won a lot of Oscars, but they would have certainly preferred some apartamentos en Salzburgo. Above all, the most important thing is to visit Salzburg, because it’s one of the most beautiful cities across Europe.
