Westboro Baptists Not A Goal Of Anonymous

Anonymous, the "hacktivist" group that has been making waves recently, is rumored to have selected a new goal. An open letter recently posted on an Anonymous related site indicated that the next goal would be the Westboro Baptist Church. Members of Anonymous have asserted the little church known for hate speech is not among the instant priorities of Anonymous.
Westboro is nothing compared to what Anonymous does
The Westboro Baptists Church was being directed at with a letter found on a site. This site has ties to the "hacktivist" group Anonymous. CBS reports that the letter made it seem like a Directed Denial of Service, or DDoS, attack would be directed at the group by Anonymous. The letter declares to the Westboro Baptists the church's "inhumane treatment of fellow Man has reached its apex" and that Anonymous was giving notice to stop quickly -- or else. BBC reports that Anonymous members said a Distributed Denial of Service attack on the Westboro Baptists or even the Phelps family wouldn't take place since you will find "more pressing matters to deal with" right now.
Reaction comes from Westboro church
The Westboro Baptist Church responded that Anonymous was "a puddle of pimple-faced nerds.". Members of Anonymous cautioned members not to target the WBC, in case it was a trap of some sort. Typically, the group is more interested in larger adversaries than the WBC. However, a group of rogue members could effortlessly organize an attack since Anonymous does not have a formal structure at all. Religious organizations have been taken on by Anonymous previously. In fact, the Church of Scientology and Anonymous had a public feud once.
WBC is little potatoes
The groups and organizations that have been targeted by Anonymous in recent months have been far larger than the small congregation from KS peddling hate speech at funerals and college campuses. The combination hacker and activist group, or "hacktivists," have gained notoriety for bigger marks, for instance Visa, MasterCard and Paypal, for cutting off scheduled payments to WikiLeaks, and Egyptian government websites were targeted when access to the internet in Egypt was cut off.
