When it comes to the outdoors there are so many things for us to see and do. Depending on what time of year it is and where you are at will greatly depend on if you want to go camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, or hunting. The possibilities are endless. But in order to do them you need the right tools.
One of the most important tool that you can use is an axe. This is what we use to help us cut down firewood to use in our fireplace - but it has many more uses then just this. When you go camping it helps to find dinner, set up tents, and also clear away shrubbery. Learn what the different types of axes are that you can use.
Standard Axe
The standard axe is the full sized type that many people prefer to keep at their home and in the garage. This is used to cut down trees for firewood or when they are old and about to come down on their own. These axes are heavy and sturdy - but should only be used by people who know what they are doing.
Camp Axe
The camp axe is a much smaller version of the standard type and often looks like a hatchet. It is usually not much longer then eleven inches and is lightweight. This makes it easy to carry around with you when you go camping. It is used to cut up smaller pieces of wood and kindling for the fire. It can also be used to remove shrubs and nail down those tents.
Camp Ice Axe
The camp ice axe is the most unusual types of these that you will find. It is long - but in a more unusual shape. The blade is thin and there is a sharp point at the bottom of the handle. This axe is used when you are hiking up snowy and icy mountains. They help to keep you stabilized when climbing the mountains and can be used as a walking stick to make it easier.
