What Are The Differences Between Titleist Ap1 And Ap2 Golf Irons?
The AP1 is now the only cast iron club in their line up, but it nonetheless still retains a portion of the feel, more commonly seen with the older muscleback types. They have a certain level of "forgiveness" that is essential for players of this type who often produce off centre shots, or hit behind the ball frequently. The clubs simply help to make up for this lack of consistency, getting the golf ball into the air even if the shot was hit fat (behind the ball). The term "aspiring" was used to indicate that these players are trying to improve, so Titleist tried to build a club that would improve their game now, with room for growth as the handicap is decreased. The other new club of this type - the AP2 is getting some notice from the PGA tour. In fact, Adam Scott is now carrying this edition in his bag. These forged clubs also contain a cavity back, resulting in somewhat of a hybrid feel. The forgiveness when striking a golf ball is amazing according to many testers. The new elastomeric material contained within has given this iron the feel that is coveted by better players everywhere. Since this is one thing that can't be taught, it is an important part of a golfer's psyche. That has a direct impact on the round of golf being played. The AP2 was designed for the low handicap player and uses the combination of traditional loft with a minimum of offset. This leads to a correction of the shot when it is struck slightly off-centre or on the heel or toe. The club is not an elixir for all things in golf that are bad, but it can help in most ways to create a good shot. Both of these irons were rated superior to similar models including the TaylorMade r7 TP line. Titleist models have a better feel to them and easily handle poor ball striking better than their competitors. This is important to players who want every advantage possible when on the course. The Cleveland CG Red was very comparable as well, with most features almost equal to that of the AP series. However, the Titleist brand was still given the nod, due to the incredible sense of feel that was equated with each shot. They definitely live up to the hype.
