Likewise you also have to report this to your network within 12 hours of when you noticed it. In terms of claiming time frames, any claim made after 48 hours of when you’ve noticed the incident or returned from holiday to the UK where the incident happened, then in all likeliness your claim will also be rejected. Once you make a claim you need to return your claim form within 30 days otherwise it’ll be invalid. Certain situations will also prevent you from making a successful claim. For example if your phone was left inside a car on view, i.e. not hidden inside the glove box or boot, or if the car wasn’t even locked in the first place. If the location of where your phone was lost or stolen was unoccupied (unless there is evidence of a forced entry) and likewise if there was no evidence of force or threat of violence to the person, then your claim will be invalid. If you lose your phone in a public place after leaving it unattended then this will also be difficult to claim for. Whilst some of these situations may seem a little harsh, it is important to remember that it is your responsibility to take the necessary precautions when looking after your own mobile phone.
