What Can You Do After Your Dog Has Died?
Write About It Writing can be very therapeutic. You can get out all of the feelings that you have about your pet on paper, and it may help you to organize your thoughts and remember certain traits or experiences after your cat or dog has died. If you can just jot down some of your thoughts regularly or maybe keep a daily journal about your pet, in the future you can look back on it to reminisce over the fond memories that you had with your dog or cat. If you don’t feel comfortable writing down your own feelings, then there are a number of books and poems that you can read to help you cope with the pain after your dog has died. Memorialize Your Pet If you want to keep your pet close to your heart, then you can find a number of unique memorials that can be customized specifically for your pet. This will allow you to put a picture of your pet in a small trinket or picture frame so that you can see them whenever you wish. For people that have a hard time accepting that their pet can no longer be with them, a memorial made with your pet’s name and picture is a great way to keep them in your life and their spirit in your home. Bury Your Pet It’s difficult to think about, but at some point you have to decide what to do with your pets remains. You can have them disposed of by the vet or a clinic, or you can have them cremated so that you can spread them in a special place. If you cremate your pet, you can also choose to keep their ashes in your home, so that they will always be with you. Another way to give your pet a final farewell is to bury them in your yard or in a pet cemetery. You can find special tombstones to mark the grave, and you can add any special message or memento that you like after your dog has died. Grieve and Heal The most important part of remembering your pet is to let yourself grieve and heal. With patience, you will come to understand that your pet is still in your life because you keep his or her spirit alive.
