What Causes Acne To Form?acne is caused by a bacterium known as Propionibacterium acnes. This particular bacterium is present in every single person; however, people who suffer from acne generally have higher number of the bacteria in their follicles. All acne, whether it may be on someone’s face, shoulders, back, legs, or buttocks, is referred to as a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit. This particular unit is made up of hair follicle, sebaceous gland, and a single hair. These particular units are found everywhere on the human body except for the palms, soles, top of feet, and lower lip. The number of these units is greater on the face and the chest. One part of the pilosebaceous unit, known as sebaceous gland, produces a substance called sebum. This particular substance is what the acne bacterium uses as a nutrient for growth.
