What Going To Church In Charlotte Is Surely All About!
Probably the first thing to declare is that when you arrive in this city as a foreigner (particularly if you come from abroad) you will get asked two questions: 1. Do you work for the banks? and 2. Which church do you go to? So obviously this is at least the second most important thing to do in the city. Whether or not that is the correct place on the list of anyone's concerns is open to question, but it is probably a lot greater concern than in many other major cities in the US. So it only stands to reason there must be something of value on offer inside Charlotte's many enormous religious structures. But what? Possibly it is social affiliation. There's no doubt that many attend services because it is where they produce and cultivate both public connections and business connections. And that is the manner it has been for many generations, leading to random accusations that absolutely Sundays are really more like attending the most excellent public club in town, rather than listening to the Bible being delivered. Another fashion that social facet displays itself is in the search for love.not God's love, but human love! If lots of young people are to be found on Sunday in services it stands to reason that will be a favorable place to find a potential date or even, if you're lucky, a permanent mate. And perhaps that's no harmful thing, with countless pastors encouraging young adults to bridge and form friendships, there may be no better place to search for a marriage partner. And then there's the kids. With the city filled of young families coming on a Sunday is an inconsiderable way to get a bit of free child care for a couple of hours, while you sit back and let the music and doctrine wash over you. With good luck your kids will really take pleasure in the experience, and even if you are not one of the devoted, there's a time they will pick up several strong values that at the very least won't do them any harm. Some parents even go so distant as dropping their children off on Sunday morning and then leaving for a coffee or an impromptu date with their spouse, while their kids are 'entertained' by inclined children's workers and volunteers who are only immensely pleased to have their children. Which strangely leaves the main purpose, spiritual support, and God Himself, remarkably low on the list of reasons go get up and get going on a Sunday morning. Most pastors don't seem too anxious if that is the case. They are just happy to have their seats filled on Sundays, and the time to have at least half an hour to teach and preach, and get their message across, whether the stored are surely there for the precise reasons or not!
