What Is Your Favorite Park?

You probably are one of many who call Yosemite National Park a beloved place. Granted to describe the sight of Yosemite Valley upon exiting the last of the Highway 41 tunnels as breathtaking is unoriginal but it definitely is an accurate way of putting it. Both professional and amateur photographers are unlikely to ruin a shot of the rushing waterfalls along with the walled valley solid rocks and the Half Dome bump.

Crowds touring Yosemite seldom get past five percent of the park valley before they are crushed by the numerous visitors also looking to see the area. Yosemite has its almost perpendicular feature that intrigue its visitors and make it worthwhile for them to bear with the large tourist populations. The throng of travelers often stops paying attention to the cramped conditions as the are busy gazing above. Visitor populations are more manageable in autumn as well as spring and winter so schedule tours then.

The Great Smoky Mountains is not as popular as other national parks. Walk by the park trails to find out why the park is known as the most visited one. At 9.2 million the Grand Canyon cannot compete with the park when it comes to visitor numbers pulled in per year. But for a certified Westerner the views along with the crowded paths made for a less than interesting trip. Towns like Gatlinburg and Cherokee are land mines for tourists as they are bursting with casinos and other attractions. There has not been a lot of improvement seen in the area of air quality for a long time. People probably have exhausted it seeing as it is the one main reason they have for visiting National Parks.

The Wrangell Saint Elias is one more national park of interest. Two parklands that are infrequently toured are Kobuk Valley and Gates of the Arctic but the total acreage for such sites is 55 million. However few have traveled farther southeast of Anchorage to what park services dubs The North American Mountain Kingdom. The place has the greatest number of glaciers and mountains as tall as 16000 feet in the entire country.

There is a North Rim national park within the Grand Canyon that most tourists believe deserve repeat visits. Grand Canyon crowds in the South Rim deter most tourists from traveling there and instead opt to drive all the way to the North Rim. Having been to the Grand Canyon before people know about the huge crowds and soon find themselves wishing they were alone appreciating the awesome canyon views.

My favorite wildlife is the Everglades where I've seen buffalo in Yellowstone and grizzlies in Kobuk Valley. To get a more intimate connection with nature go see the alligators catching some sun rays while resting on Anhinga Trail mudflats in the area of the Everglades. A yawn from these snoozing sawtoothed monsters will give you the chills, especially as they slip silently into the brown water, just their tiny eyes above the surface.

It is possible that Monument Valley is a national park. Crimson rocks and stones are identified with the West. Plenty of motion pictures have been shot amid the Navajo Indian territory backdrop found amid the Utah and Arizona areas. However there is little chance of it being a national park since it is a self governed site. Nevertheless it is still a favorite location for many.

In my opinion, Hot Springs shouldn't be a national park. The Natural State Arkansas has a spa town where people can get old fashioned massage routines over at Bathhouse Row. It may not cut it as a national park but it has all the makings of a historical landmark. In 1916 the National Park Service came out and what was a longtime federal land spanning 40 years pre Yellowstone was grandfathered. Once a member of the club getting out is near impossible.

A couple of perks await at the Glacier Waterton International Peace Park.

The entire region constitutes one international peace park place. Get lost in the old British tea hour practice when visiting the faux hotel of Tudor Prince of Wales on the side of Canada.
