What Is A Digital Frame?
When looking at a digital frame, one of the questions an individual should consider is how big a frame could suit their needs depending on what or where the frame is intended to be used. The most common sizes range from 7-12 inches measured diagonally, similar to traditional picture frames. The best way to decide which size to get is to think of where you will be displaying the pictures. If one plans on keeping their digital frame on their office desk for example, then something on the smaller end would be ideal, but if the frame is to be mounted on a wall, then going for something bigger might be a good idea. Also, the frame’s aspect ratio which simply refers to the way the digital photo frames will display photos fed into them will be different on some models. In most cases the digital frames will display pictures in the 4:3 ratios but some will use a larger ratio, which could result in pictures being cropped or distorted. A typical digital camera will take pictures in the 4:3 aspect ratios, so any frame that uses this same aspect ratio should be perfect for displaying pictures. Depending on the model of the digital frame, one may be able to insert their digital camera’s memory card directly into the frame and have all of the pictures on the memory card shown. Other models have an internal memory that allow for upload of the user’s own selection of pictures directly from their computer. Some new models will allow uploading of pictures to the digital frame from a mobile phone via wireless Bluetooth. Finally, many people enjoy the crisp and clear quality of the pictures that come across their computer's LCD monitors. These will usually appear brighter than the photos that most have hanging on the wall next to the computer. This is what to expect from a digital frame. Simply put, the quality of the photos between a digital frame and a regular, old-fashioned frame cannot be compared. A digital frame is one of the most fun gadgets ever invented.
