Everyday we hear about the business of web site flipping, and people ask me everyday What kind of money is there to be made doing this. My answer is always the same it varies. Each day there are websites that get bought and get sold. The price for these sites can be 40 dollars for the site to millions for a much larger one. Now don't get excited too fast, the chances that you will be a millionaire off of one or two sites is not likely. However as you read on you will discover that there is money to be made in this business.
First you need to understand exactly what web site flipping is. In short it is the art of buying one website “flipping” it or simply put making improvements that will increase the overall value of it, then selling it for a higher price than you bought it for. Now you need to figure out how much to seel your site for. To do this lets look at the cost incurred during the flipping process. First was it an already established site or did you build it yourself. Next was any work on the site outsourced, if so then you will need to factor that into the selling price. These are the first two things you need to figure out before you can move on to the next step in determining the sites value.
After you determine the first two factors now comes the big question how much money is your site worth. How much does the site make on a monthly basis. Lets say that you make $200 a month in profit from the site. Now multiply that by 24 and you will see that you are making $4800 in two years.
You can add the two sets of numbers together and this will give you a ballpark as to what you might want to ask for when selling your site. Of course if a buyer does not think the site is worth the asking price they will not pay that. This is why it is important that when you go to sell you provide potential buyers with as much information as you can to help prove the sites ability for profit.
If you do your research well and make sure all you duck are in a row then you can make a comfortable living with flipping web sites. Just don't expect to have a mansion or fancy sports car, at least in the beginning.
