What Makes A Good Client?

Clients are crucial to the success of a business. Big duh! That’s obvious, right? But not all clients are created equal – some are better for your business than others – and it isn’t always about the money. Your sanity is also an important factor.

Starting and growing a business will likely mean that you have to take on some projects and some clients that make you cuss to shame a sailor. Hopefully you can wait until you are alone to let the adjectives fly. And as your business grows, you can focus your efforts on the good clients. Here are a few points to help you recognize your good clients.


Good clients …
Recognize the value of your work.
Respect deadlines.
Communicate effectively.
Pay on time.

Set the standard for your business. Stand firm and realize that the value of a client lies not only the money they represent but in how they treat you as a business partner. When you recognize the value of your own services you can feel more confident about choosing the right clients.

In the normal course of business there will always be bumps and disagreements. You can’t avoid all of those and still stay in business. But if you choose wisely you can find clients that will work through those bumps with you in a professional way that you both can appreciate.
