What Secret Igredients Go Into A Gluten Free Pizza Crust That Makes It Taste So Good?

Are you one of the many people that cannot digest gluten and have had a hard time finding great tasting food to eat? Well there's good news, now you can enjoy many types of foods that don't contain gluten. More people are finding that either they cannot handle the gluten in foods or are deciding it is just a healthier way to eat. What this means is there are more recipes being devised to make ordinary foods available. One such recipe is gluten free pizza crust for one of the all-American favorite meals. Foods that were totally off limits for those that suffer from celiac disease are now becoming more popular and are even being found in local restaurants and bakeries. Cookbooks are coming out with all kinds of ways to let you eat the same foods as everyone else with the only difference being-- it is all gluten free.

One of the most popular foods for everyone is pizza. Now you can make your own gluten free pizza crust at home and enjoy something you may have been missing for awhile. The ingredients are easy to find and you can have a delicious pizza with your choice of favorite toppings. So many think that making your own pizza at home will be too much work and time. The reality is in will only take about 20 minutes! Tapioca flour is the main base for the recipe. You can purchase most of the ingredients at your local supermarket or natural foods store. I have found that natural food stores sell the different flours in bulk and can be much cheaper than the supermarket. It pays to doe some shopping around to find the right price for your ingredients.

The following list of ingredients is all you need for a Tapioca Pizza Crust:

Dry Ingredients

1. 3/4 c. white or brown rice flour

2. 1 pkg. active dry yeast

3. 3/4 c. tapioca flour

4. 1 tsp. Agar-Agar powder

5. 1 tsp. salt

6. 1 tsp. sugar

7. 2 tbs. buttermilk powder

8. 2 tsp. xanthan gum

(Extra tapioca flour for rolling the pizza dough)

Wet Ingredients

1. 1/2 c. lukewarm water

2. 1 1/2 tsp. cider vinegar

3. 2 tsp. olive oil

To create your delicious gluten free pizza crust, mix all dry ingredients well in a large bowl. Once mixed, add the wet ingredients. Stir until all is forming a well-combined doughy mixture. Remove dough from bowl to a tapioca-floured surface for kneading. Work with the dough until you have a solid ball. Divide the dough in half. Work each half into a flattened pizza crust and place on a pizza stone or parchment-lined baking sheet. (sprinkle corn meal on parchment paper before putting crust on it.) Bake your crusts at 400 degrees for about 5-7 minutes to firm. Remove from oven, add your toppings and pop back into the oven for about ten minutes. When the cheese is melted and bubbling, your delicious gluten free pizza crust pizza is ready to eat. Enjoy!
