What They Don’t Tell You About Making Money Online

In this article I look at the question of whether making money online with a blog or website is a realistic proposition. And I also look at some of the most common mistake that new internet marketers make.

If you are considering getting into the online, internet marketing business you will no doubt have read the wild, exaggerated and sometimes fraudulent claims made by many internet marketers who claim to have a “system”. There are many full time internet marketers making good money from their online businesses but there are many unscrupulous characters who will claim anything to just make the next sale.

Just as there are many ways to make money online there are many pitfalls for the unsuspecting and one of the most common mistakes made by new online business owners who try to be all things to all men. By this I mean that they do some research, see many diverse opportunities to make money online, and then proceed to throw every possible form of monetization at their blog or website.

What they don’t tell you is that this simply will not work. You need to decide at the beginning of your online career which particular area of activity you are going to concentrate on and learn as much as you possibly can about that area from the industry leaders who have a proven track record and who have demonstrated integrity.

You will not succeed for example if you try to specialise in affiliate marketing and throw a whole lot of adsense blocks at your site and maybe some Amazon or ebay feeds as well. You need to ensure that your site or blog is set up precisely to get the outcome you are seeking..whether that is an affiliate sale or a sign up or an Adsense click.

A mix and match approach will not work and your blog, its set up, design, layout etc. should all be designed to deliver the one outcome you want. But you need to decide before you start what that outcome is and you do not want to become a jack of all trades and master of none.

You need to master one specialism and repeat the process by scaling up.
