What Your Bride Will Need Help With During Her Wedding
If you are the maid of honor for your friend, you may be wondering what you are expected to do. Being the maid of honor means more than just buying an expensive dress and standing next to your friend during the ceremony. The title comes with several other duties as well.
Many of your duties will happen before the wedding. You should help the bride as she chooses the venues for her ceremony and reception. You can also help her choose favors, invitations, food, and other details about the wedding. Most importantly, you will help her choose her wedding dress. You may even help her register if her fiancé does not want to do so.
Several parties are your responsibility as well. The bridal shower and bachelorette party fall in your hands. If someone else wants to help with the planning, that is fine, but you need to make sure that your friend has these parties.
You have a role to play during the rehearsal as well. Remember that the wedding couple is busy with their family during this time, many of whom traveled from out of town to attend the wedding. It is your job to make sure that everything is organized and runs smoothly during the rehearsal. Also, avoid drinking too much at the rehearsal dinner, as you need to be alert and fresh on the day of the wedding.
Helping your friend plan her wedding should be a lot of fun, but make sure that you are available when she needs you. If she becomes overbearing, remember that your role will end as soon as she gets married, and she will probably return the favor when your special day comes.
