What Is Body Ph? Explanations And Tips To Keep It In Balance
To understand what body pH is, imagine your body as this super-efficient machine, working tirelessly day in, day out to ensure the balance of alkalinity in your system. This is a must because the reality is that if your body is too acidic you are in trouble. Too alkaline and you also have problems. Your body's pH is measured on a scale of 1-14, and tells you how acidic or how alkaline your body is – 7 is neutral. The pH of your blood is vitally important, and should measure around 7.4 which is slightly alkaline. In order to maintain this balance, your body has to maximize its efforts in order to maintain this, because a variation of one or two points either way could change the electrical chemistry in your body, possible resulting in death. That's how vital having a balanced pH is! Sadly, keeping that balance is not always easy as so many of us live lives that seriously compromise our pH balance, resulting in over-acidity. Being overly-acidic is a serious condition, because it has the capacity to weaken our internal systems, and open the floodgates to disease. This means that our bodies have to work overtime to maintain a pH balance to neutralize the acids, so depleting our alkaline reserves. In his book, "Alkalize or Die", Dr. T H Baroody notes that the countless names of illnesses do not really matter - what does matter is that they all come from the same root cause, too much acid waste in the body! It would seem therefore, that all disease has but one ancestral link, that being acidity. So what actually happens? What happens when your body becomes excessively acidic is this. Remember, your body is this super-efficient machine, constantly striving to keep you alive by balancing your pH. In order to do this, it has to find minerals from somewhere else in your body. It will go to great lengths to do this, borrowing minerals from your bones and teeth and vital organs in order to try to maintain balance. This can go on for many years until payback time! A recent study conducted by the University of California on nine thousand women concluded that people who suffer chronic acidosis are at a much greater risk of bone loss than people whose pH levels are in check. Scientists believe that many of the hip fractures prevalent amongst middle-aged women have a direct connection to the foods that they consume, that is, high in animal protein and low in vegetables. The signs! Look around you. It's not hard to categorize people and assess their health status. Even being mildly acidic can cause serious problems. How many people do you know who suffer from the following? Chronic fatigue Heart disease Osteoporosis Type 2 diabetes Obesity Auto-immune disease Kidney stones Joint pains It has everything to do with what you eat! You see what you eat and drink is a key determinant in how balanced your body will be. So much that passes as food today leaves an acid ash within our body system. Too much meat, tea, coffee, and processed foods serve to create acidity. Conversely, fresh vegetables, especially green, leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, and low-sugar fruits will promote alkalinity. What to do? Getting our systems back into balance takes time, but certainly there are easy, doable steps that you can take to improve your pH. Clearly knowing what foods create either alkalinity or acidity is your first step. All green, leafy vegetables should become your friend, as well as cucumbers, chives, carrots, asparagus, onion and radishes Leafy fresh herbs and organic spices Low-sugar fruits such as citrus, avocados, watermelon, and tomato Wheatgrass Green beans and peas Seeds and nuts Olive oil and organic coconut oil Obviously the least adulterated these foods are, the better they will be for you. Stay away from: All processed and packaged foods. These will tip your body into acidity and form no part of a pH diet. They are either highly-sugared or highly-salted. Dairy products generally Chocolates All simple carbohydrates Animal products Cigarettes Alcohol It's best to take baby steps in your journey towards alkalinity, unless of course, you have a serious health issue, in which case, time is of the essence. Substituting salads for cooked vegetables could be a first step. Snacking on fruits rather than processed foods would also be beneficial. What to drink? As with any healthy diet, drinking several litres of pure water in place of tea and coffee will put you on the path towards pH balance. Testing: Before you begin your diet, you might like to buy some Hydrion Testing Tape. This will provide you with a precise reading of your pH at any given time of day. The strip, through precise colour results, will give you a precise reading as to how acidic or alkaline your body is, through either a urine or saliva test. Whatever you discover in the testing procedure, the news is still good. We live in the information age where we can be informed about how foods affect our wellbeing. We can independently support our health through optimal eating patterns. Sure, we need to change courses. We are challenged through a very steep learning curve. However, once you experience the wonders of true health you will never look back. Go on! Give it a try! Balance your body's pH. You're worth it!
