What Is The Smoky Mountain Springfest?
Witness the spectacle as Gatlinburg's streets explode with color in the form of beautiful flowers and blooming trees. The event kicks off with a Scottish parade on Friday, when Mills Park becomes the competition site for the annual Scottish Festival & Games. Authentic clans gather and compete in traditional athletic events, bagpipe contests, highland dances, a variety of entertainment, a whiskey tasting, and traditional food and merchandise kiosks. Gatlinburg's Fine Arts Festival is a juried exhibition featuring artists from all over the country in addition to delightful cuisine and unique live music and entertainment acts. The festival happens at Ripley's Aquarium on May 14 and 15. Artists showcased at this festival are leaders in their respective fields. June marks the beginning of several musical showcases in Gatlinburg including MountainFest and Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales. MountainFest, June 9 and 10, is two entire days of bluegrass and traditional mountain music, crafters, demonstrations, and local foods including cornbread and fried green tomatoes. On Saturday, the Mountain Strings competition showcases incredible local talent competing for cash. New to the festival this year is Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales, an incredible entertainment experience composed of nightly mini-performances of musical performers in traditional dress and costumes, artisans and storytellers portraying different historical time periods. These acts are performed streetside in downtown Gatlinburg and include audience involvement, promising to be a memorable event. Smoky Mountain Springfest offers something to suit any personality.
