What Is Needed For Leadership

Leadership is a lifelong learning endeavor that requires following your dreams and making them come true. It involves “giving” to help others. It includes: Coaching, Directing, Delegating and Collaborating with others for a productive outcome.

A leader must have a real passion for people and is willing to advocate for the cause of a vision. Leaders never ever settle for second place, they need to be in first place all of the time and detest losing. Great Leaders never wait for results, they create their own outcomes and know in advance what to expect.

Leaders are masters acting on issues immediately, and they never allow for issues to fester along. Leaders never stop learning, and they always surround themselves with other great thinkers. Leaders do not have the mentality of the “Sheep” who is content to simply pasture, but rather more like a “Bull” who will charge toward his/her dream, goals, mission and aspirations.

A leader must demonstrate the resilience to stand firm. Many great leaders have paid a hefty price for their principles of integrity. When the great Mexican revolutionary General Emiliano Zapata said:
“It is better to die standing up, than to live on my knees”,

He was leading against an oppressive political regime and fighting for freedom and the return of the land to the peasants. He was demonstrating leadership at its very core.

Though there is plenty of thought provoking ideologies from many cultural Latino Leaders let’s not forget Abraham Lincoln’s quote:
“Things may come to those who wait,
But, only the things left by those who hustle”
Abraham Lincoln
