When Satellite Internet Is The Best Connection

Although it is common to know of satellite TV and radio, many people don't realize that satellite internet is also readily available in many places. If the whole market of internet users is looked at then currently there are likely just one percent that are taking advantage of satellites providing internet service. It is a small part of the market but an important one as well. The majority of users it seems are those that are living in rural locations.

In the past the only option for many inhabitants of rural locations was dial-up connections. Dial-up is so slow and so very frustrating for people that it seems the main folks that use it are those that have no other choice. That is why the market for sat-net is growing, it offers a better option. Most of the homes that go for sat-net are those that are in very rural locations that have not been introduced to another option yet.

If given the chance to choose between cable, DSL or the sat-net for a satellite connection, the clear winners would be either cable or DSL. While sat-net is faster than dial-up, it is no match for the speed of the preferred DSL or cable options. Unless there are clusters or pockets of buildings with dwellers, such as a city or metropolitan area, terrestrial broadband companies find it hard to justify installing a cable to service a sparely populated area such as rural locations. It just doesn't make any financial sense for them to invest the time, equipment, labor and upkeep of such an arrangement.

The need for cables are never a issue when hooking up to and using a satellite connection service. When installing a necessary sat-dish it is very important that is placed where there are no obstructions of any kind; not trees nor rock formations and tall buildings will be the least of your signal blocking concerns. The key to a good connection is an unhindered signal path from the ground to the satellite orbiting in the skies. Correct placing of the sat-dish is very important from the start to ensure good service.

There are setbacks to using sat-net that are usually just an annoyance. One must keep in mind that there is a very big distance between the sender and receiving end of the signal. Because it is so far there will be a short lapse in the signal time. In reality it does not amount to more than a second in waiting time. It is not a big deal unless the user is a big game player and wants to join others in fast moving games. For those shooting games it will mean that the player will pretty much always have a short playtime life span.
