When Will We Wise Up?
Somewhere in this mix, of the people, by the people and for the people gets lost. I don't believe they care about you and I one iota. We get and have gotten lost in the power struggle that is Washington, D. C. I honestly don't think this is what our founding fathers had in mind when they created this country and the amazing documents they wrote at the time. Politicians and lobbyists have twisted and bent the principles our founding fathers created. We the people have been tossed by the wayside. I remember as child, my father saying the democratic party was for the working man and the republican party was for the rich. I respected my father and thought he was an intelligent man. When I got older and learned about the workings of government, I realized that wasn't the case. I do believe it was during my grandparents and his younger days but that hasn't been the case for many years. FDR has some great ideas but he has to be turning over in his grave seeing what politicians have allowed those programs to turn into over the years. Corruption, graft and scandal have turned those programs into a joke and a tremendous burden on the american taxpayer. They are now used as a way to beat the system. We've all heard the stories of people collecting 5 checks in 5 different counties under 5 different names. I knew of a man who celebrated 20 years of being on welfare with a party complete with cavair and champagne! You guessed it, we paid for it. The sheer and total amount of waste in this country is staggering. We build roads to nowhere, bridges to nowhere, trains to nowhere all for the sake of a politician returning a favor to his district for his being elected. We pay riddiculous sums of money for hammers, screwdrivers, nuts and bolts so this or that party can reward his buddies for their donations to his political coffers. If we as a country, don't soon face reality we are destined to go the way of the Greek, Roman and British empires and that day is not far off.
