Where To Buy A Gun Safe?

If you are shopping around for a gun safe, there are a couple of things to think about. One of the most important of these is deciding whether you will make your purchase online or from a local gun safe dealer. Other than the fact that you do not even have to leave your house to buy a gun safe over the web, there are a few other advantages to consider before you buy a gun safe.

Your local dealer probably does not have the space they need to keep every model of safe produced by any one manufacturer in stock at all times. While some dealers may have an excellent selection, they almost certainly do not have complete catalog availability. A gun safe is often a once in a lifetime purchase and as such, if there is a model or color which you have your heart set on, then you can shop around online until you find exactly the model of gun safe you want. Even though your local gun safe dealer may not be have the safe you want in stock when you first visit them, but you can see the models up close and get a feel for what you are interested in buying.

Online gun safe dealers are usually willing to go the extra mile to make a sale, so if you do not see the model that you want in stock, just ask what they can do for you - many dealers will make you a deal on a similar model, so unless a different color or slightly different style isn't a deal breaker, then you may be able to find a great bargain this way.
If you know anything at all about comparison shopping you are sure to find a pretty good price on a gun safe, whether you do your shopping at local dealers or online. However, you will generally find that online dealers offer better prices, since they have much lower overhead costs and much fiercer competition. Your local shop, after all, doesn't have literally hundreds of competitors vying for the attention of potential buyers.
Remember this as well: If you buy a gun safe from an online retailer who is located in a different state, you will not have to pay state sales tax on your purchase.

Naturally, you will need to have any gun safe you buy online shipped to you; the same is true of buying from a local dealership, though of course the shipping will tend to be less costly in this case. Make sure that you know exactly what the costs of having your purchase delivered will be with either option and make sure that you and the dealer are on the same page about your shipping needs.

Whether you buy from an online retailer or someone local, there are three options when it comes to delivery. You can have it delivered to your garage or to the curbside, inside your house on the ground level or placed anywhere else in your home, upstairs or downstairs. Each of these options is more expensive than the last, as you would expect. If you buy from a local dealer, than you can either pick up the gun safe yourself or have them deliver it to you if you live relatively close (usually, within 50 miles of the dealer). However, if you buy online, then a freight company will deliver your gun safe instead.

This is very important: unless you're absolutely certain you can handle transporting something as heavy as a gun safe, then let the professionals handle the job. Many a gun safe is heavy enough to require two or three people to move; and many safe owners consider paying a bit more to have their safe delivered well worth the cost.

Most safes do not need a lot of maintenance or service, though there is one kind of service which you may find yourself in need of at some point: a locksmith. Whenever you buy a safe, you should make sure that the dealer provides locksmith services in case any kind of problems should occur with the lock. These dealers will usually include ALOA (Associated Locksmiths of America) certified locksmith seals on their home page. Many times lock problems can be resolved by the phone with precise instructions, and if that is not the case and service at the location is needed you will be referred to an associated locksmith near you.

Buying a safe all comes down to your own preferences and what works best for you. Shopping or at least researching safes online is almost a requirement and there are plenty of resources to choose from. Whether you buy online or local, do your research beforehand and you will find the safe you need at a fair price.
