Which Type Of Moving Blankets Should I Get?

It might not be surprising to know that not many people have ever heard of moving blankets. When some hear about them for the first time they might have an idea of what moving blankets are about but not exactly. When I first hear about them I knew they would be for moving but didn't quite understand how they were used. These are basically normal looking blankets that are designed to serve a certain purpose. If you are about to move then you will have three options to choose from economy, premium and skins.

I'll start by explaining to you the most commonly bought moving blankets. These are called economy and they are the most moderate of the three. They are a little bit padded but enough to keep something from getting damaged. You can use this to wrap an oven, a mirror, or even a TV. People usually like to use boxes but not everything can fit into a box. It quite simple to wrap stuff up with economy blankets because they are made from cotton so they don't slip and you can use rope or masking tape to secure your object.

Some want create a soundproof room with blankets. There is no better way to create a soundproof barrier then to use the thickest kind of moving blankets. These quilted moving blankets will block out more than 50% of the noise. Premium moving blankets used for soundproofing are called acoustic or producer's blankets. They are very commonly used and hung on walls.

If the two types above are more than what you are looking for then you might want to settle for the skins moving blankets. Although they have no padding, they can still be pretty useful. Use them for moving or for help around the house. They have zigzag stitching to help keep them durable. If you want to slide things and protect your floors you should get the shiny ones that are very slippery, just don't use these to move with because they will keep slipping and only frustrate you.

You really don't have to worry about them tearing, especially if you are buying the good quality American brand. If you buy the ones made in China, you will have to be extra careful not to use heavy load on them. Yes, they can tear if you are demanding too much from them. So go premium if you need extra safety, economy is the basic, and skins for light usage. If you go to a moving company you might be able to rent them but you can also buy them used or find good deals by the dozen.
