The justification is open for debate, but America has chosen not to produce and refine more oil. It is senseless for so many Americans to feel this anguish every time they go to fill up. Yes, everyone gets that there will be environmental ramifications for oil drilling and new refineries. So, why are gas prices so high? You can do something all by yourself to change demand. However, it is dressed up in overalls and resembles work. There was a time not so long ago that driving an vehicle required more than just starting it up and driving. You didn't have cruise. You had to change your own flat. You had to adjust the choke for instance. You had to check your oil weekly.

alternative energy is not new. Humans have been using power from nature since time began. Think sailboat, water mill, wind mill, hot springs, wood, whale blubber, oil, horses, oxen, and fire. As a means of moving people and cargo these all fall short of the mark, especially when you already own a car.

It is now possible to burn hydrogen gas from water, on as it's needed, mix it with gasoline, ignite it in your engine, and increase your efficiency. You can construct a gizmo from common items for under $60 that will accomplish this. It will take you a late evening with simple tools to make, and under an hour to install it. The problem is, you will have to maintain it, which will probably take up to 30 minutes per month. Are you willing to give up your time to save $1 or more on every gallon of gas you buy?
