Why Does The Easter Bunny Lay Eggs

The celebration of the easter holiday is ambiguous at best. Many are taught that easter is the remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Nonetheless, nowhere in The New Testament is a Divine directive to celebrate easter found. Early Christians had no notion of the idea of sanctifying special times.

Ephesians 5:10,11 Keep on making sure of what is acceptable to the Lord; and quit sharing with them in the unfruitful works that belong to the darkness, but, rather, even be reproving of them.

Numerous pagan customs manifest themselves in the celebration of easter. These traditions celebrate the return of spring. The egg is symbolic of the germination of life that takes place during the spring. An emblem of fertility, the rabbit is another pagan symbol. The hot cross buns of Good Friday and the colored eggs that are hidden for the children were also a part of the Chaldean rituals.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 What fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what portion does a faithful person have with an unbeliever? And what agreement does God’s temple have with idols? For we are a temple of the living God; just as God said: I shall reside among them, and I shall be their God and they will be my people. Therefore get from among them, and separate yourselves, says Jehovah, and quit touching the unclean thing and I will take you in.

The name easter is of Chaldean origin. It is actually derived from Astarte, a title of Beltis, queen of the Assyrian heaven. This is in direct violation of what is expected from the servants of Jehovah as is evidenced in the above scripture. Why then, would it be celebrated by most of mainstream Christianity. John 15:19 If you [the followers of Jesus] were a part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.

1 John 5:19 The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.

The aforementioned scriptures provide a foundation upon which to rebuke easter celebrations. Indeed, these standards should be applied to all celebrations. This is not to say all celebration is bad, only be aware of what is being celebrated before joining the festivity.
