Why I Bought A Cannondale Road Bike
“I bought a Cannondale CAAD 10 the other day and have had a few rides on it. It has an Ultegra set along with a Mavic wheels. It is one great bike. One of the best things was I forgot I was riding on an Aluminum frame. It is so smooth you would think you were riding a carbon fiber bike. My only disappointment is the wheel set as I believe they give a harsher ride than necessary even for the avid cyclist let alone the recreational rider.” Another comment I received was… "I have always had good luck with Cannondale’s besides they're made right here in North America. I recently wound up buying a new road bike the Cannondale R700. I got the triple for the granny gear as hills are my least favorite part of any ride. The 700 also offers a better running gear. I know though that it’s not the best but it is very durable. That is how I ended up with my aluminum framed road rocket.” Another comment “I went for a ride today on my new CAAD 10. It was no small ride although only 50 miles it had over 4,000 feet of climb. The elevation gain was one long hard climb. The descent on the other hand was fast but it had a lot of switchbacks along with some very steep sections of 11% to 16% grades. The bike tracked extremely well into the hard corners. It was a great test for me and my new bike especially the handling characteristics. Even though it was my first ride on this particular mountain and even with the speed and so on I had total confidence in my new bike.” One thing you may like to know is Cannondale a lot of the time uses the same frame for a number of different models in different price category. They all tend to be in the race geometry area though. This means that if you are looking to get a road bike on the cheap you could buy a lower priced model and really get a good deal. What I wouldn’t recommend is getting a bike with Sora components as it’s harder to upgrade later. I also want to note here that Cannondale designs many of their models specifically for women. I don’t mean they just lower the top bar but they change the dynamics of the bike completely to fit women’s bodies better. Same great bikes only custom designed. Cannondale over the years has made for themselves a significant niche by concentrating on well made aluminum bikes. They have also been an innovative company which is known for taking advantage of new technologies. They also have a wide range of bikes and prices. Aluminum bikes made in America are their game.
