Why Search Engines Love Video?

Perhaps you are a contractor, a builder or a remodeler and you find yourself being confronted by the beast, “how do I generate leads that will turn into sales through online marketing.” Social media is one of the hottest construction marketing topics lately. And if you do some snooping around, you will find that videos and video blogs take a vital role in social media. They are slowly overtaking texts and graphic messages that will create brand retention and eye training to recognize your brand almost immediately.
If you do some searching around Google or any of your favourite search engines, you will find that videos posted through video sharing sites like Youtube or Metacafe rank in the top of the list of searches. You will probably come to the conclusion that search engines love videos and that they prefer these over any other content. However, this is simply not true. Most web pages do not rank higher just because of the videos that they contain in their sight. It is not true that search engines prefer video content over texts and graphics. It is simply because they use other Search Engine Optimization processes that actually help in landing them at the top of the search engine’s list.

Some of the factors that contribute to this phenomenon are: page titles and contents, some back links or how often and how many people actually link to your page, and what we call Google Page Rank. A clear-cut example of that these factors truly affect search rankings would be YouTube. This website has a Page Rank of 9, therefore bringing it closer to the top of the list. It also has millions and millions of back links to it. Blogs usually link to this site and most bloggers use YouTube as a way to upload their videos that are automatically linked to their personal sites.

So in reality, these YouTube videos rank well because they are on top of the page ranks and that they have a lot of back links and not because they have videos on them. When videos are embedded in other websites using object tags, it helps put them on top of the search engine list. Search engines are not human to recognize that these tags are actually videos and not some other contents like text or graphic messages.

Search Engine Optimization in videos helps leverage the content of a website so that it places the website on top of the search engine list. So the next time you try searching using Google or any of your other favourite search engines like Yahoo and many more, you will now have a better understanding why some videos appear at the top of the list. It is merely a good use of the SEO process that placed them there and not because search engines actually prefer videos over any other content.

What can be frustrating at times is that regardless of how bad or good the video is, they are still on top of the list. And if you’re a person who is looking for the exact answers to your search, or a business owner trying to market your services online, you will see that videos take over precedence. So if you are well on your way towards increasing your business success, then open your eyes to this new way of marketing your services. Create videos that maximize SEO so that you can be sure that when people search about what you do, your website comes up at the top of the list.

Signing up for a YouTube or other video streaming sites is not difficult at all. You can easily create an account in these sites, start your very own commercial or video advertisement, reminders and tips, and increase your marketability today. Just make sure you clearly maximize the use of the SEO process, and you’re all set and ready to go.
