Why Use Save The Date Magnets As A Wedding Idea?

I have a great wedding idea for you. It can be personalized so it reflects the personalities of you and your soon-to-be spouse, inexpensive, lasts a long time, and is very utilitarian.

Save the Date Wedding Magnets

Yep…that's what I'm talking about. Save the Date wedding magnets have become an integral part of today's weddings. For the few of you out there that may not be familiar with the concept, they are refrigerator style magnets that display the date of your wedding. Generally the other details are not added because they are essentially a "heads up" notification for all your family and friends. They are sent out sometimes up to a year in advance so the intended invitees can begin making plans well ahead of time.

Why Is That Important?

Compared to 50 years ago, the lifestyle we live today is terrifically hectic. Work, school, and all the associated activities take up much of our spare time. Those people with children have even more to deal with on a daily basis, to include soccer practice, music lessons, and social activities. It's very difficult to adjust schedules on short notice, so when they get a Save the Date wedding magnet in advance, they can begin making arrangements so they can attend.

It is probably the most helpful to friends and relatives that live out of town. Making motel reservations and taking time from work requires plenty of advanced notice in most cases.

How Can You Get Them?

Most Save the Date magnets are purchased on-line. Very few brick-and-mortar stores exist that sell the items, so plan on visiting a web site for your purchase. It's best to deal with a company that has been around a while, too. Anyone can start up an on-line business and develop a slick looking web page, but you never know if you're dealing with some guy who is doing it part-time out of his basement when he isn't selling stereo speakers out of the trunk of his car.

Personally, if I were a bride, I would prefer to do business with a well-established business that was also run by women. I'm not trying to be sexist here. I'm a guy, and I admit that wedding planning isn't my forte. Most guys don't pay that much attention to it. Women do. It's just a fact. When you are researching the various on-line wedding idea sites, snoop around and see if you can tell just whom you're working with. Would you choose some guy like me that really has little idea about what a good Save the Date magnet should be, or a woman who knows her stuff? (I know marketing, not wedding planning.)

Customized

The last point of this writing is to emphasize the importance of designing a magnet that is as unique as you are. Some companies have a handful of templates from which to choose. You can change the color and the font, and obviously the photograph, but other than that it will look essentially the same as the last order they sent out. How unique is that? If the business you choose has professional graphic artists on staff, you can be assured that they will let you design it, but they will be able to help you avoid pitfalls and mistakes that might not be apparent to a novice. You make the decisions, and they will make it happen.

So, do your research, and find the best company you can. Remember that cheap doesn't always mean it's the best deal. Some products look good on the website, but in person they might be…well, cheap looking.

It's your wedding, and you should be able to have just what you want at a reasonable price. Don't settle for less.
