Like many people, I sometimes fear for the direction that our popular media is going. This is probably most attributed to the fact that I am a Christian, and I feel like I just can't find anything that is morally upright these days. Most of the stuff out there is getting more and more trashy.
To be clearer, I am talking about things like kid's books, movies and music. These aren't the only things by any means, but they are some main ones. It's not that I want to have to eliminate all these things from my life completely, but I also see clearly that the need for a Christ centered existence is more necessary than ever.
Church helps, obviously. There are few things better than going to church on Sunday to bring good influences back into my life. All the great Christian resources I have access to are really helpful to me. Church is a place where I can re-unite with friends, worship, and think about the good things in life.
I am also very thankful that some enterprising people have chosen to start Christian stores to supply us with the uplifting materials that we need. Many people don't realize just how many of these places there are around their very own city. But even if there aren't stores near you, you can always visit their websites to get what you need.
One thing that I like about these stores is that they have things for my kids that I can feel good about. I don't know if I want my children reading some of the popular books out there that won't bring them closer to Christ. Why would I buy books about wizards when I could buy books about Bible stories and things that actually inspire?
Don't we all love us some inspiring artwork? I love that most Christian stores have a large selection of Christ-centered artwork. I know that my home would not be complete without quality and uplifting artwork, and I'm sure most of you could say the same. Artwork is a way that we can make our homes a little piece of heaven on earth.
And let's not forget all the great church resources that they provide for our congregations. These Christian stores are responsible for some of the nice bulletins and certificates that we sometimes take for granted. These items make our church experience even better than it would be otherwise.
My main message is that there is a lot of degrading media out there, but there is still a way we can provide good things to our families. That way is by paying a visit to your Christian store and betting what you need.
In a time when there are limited resources to get morally uplifting media, you can rely on Christian stores to get good Christian supplies. Your loved ones and you will turn out better.
