Why should you bother to care for your plumbing system? Is there really a point in doing so, when you know that whatever problems it has can immediately be resolved with a call to the local plumber?
Fact is, there are a number of reasons why you should put some time and effort into maintaining your plumbing system. And while there are only five of them listed below, they may well be enough to convince you to do everything you can to avoid them.
Reason # 1: Expenses. (Note: this will be a recurring theme.)
Price of not stuffing the bowl with toilet paper (or similar means of preventing plumbing problems):
Zero dollars.
Cost of having professional plumbers unclog your drain:
Well, it depends on who you hire, but the bottom line is that it certainly won't be free.
Life without plumbing problems, due to your consistent care:
Priceless.
Reason # 2: Inconvenience.
Perhaps the best way to get this point across would be to paint you a picture; a picture of you stuck in your own bathroom trying to figure out how to deal with a backed-up toilet.
Too graphic for you? Figured as much. Feel like dealing with that or a similar scenario? Didn't think so.
Reason # 3. Embarrassment.
Let's say you never found a way to fix the aforementioned toilet. And let's also say that the problem occurred during one of your house parties, and there's a long line of people waiting for their turn in the bathroom. Imagine what they might say when you finally muster the courage to open the door.
Reason # 4. Damages.
Pipe bursts and trouble with your plumbing fixtures could lead you to wallow in knee-deep water. And since your home isn't really built to have an indoor pool, your belongings are bound to sustain some water damage.
Naturally, you can't get on with your life with most of your stuff damaged, which will lead you to buy or repair whatever was lost in the flood. This, in turn, brings you back to reason # 1.
Reason # 5. Rip-offs.
When dealing with plumbing emergencies like that described above, you might be tempted to call the first plumber you can find. And you wouldn't want that, since that runs the risk of you receiving a ridiculously high bill, brought to you by a seedy-looking plumber who has no qualms about taking advantage of you in your time of need (worse, his “repairs” might make the problem worse, instead of better).
By the way, if you end up hiring the guy, and he does wind up overcharging you, then congratulations, you've again found your way back to reason # 1. (Told you it was going to be a recurring theme.)
Don't think the five points stated above are the only reasons for paying some attention to your plumbing system. Take my word for it, there are a lot more. But if the ones above aren't sufficient to make you act, then you're doomed to a life of overflowing toilets, clogged drains, and ice-cold showers.
On the other hand, if they managed to convince you, then you're much better off. The only thing left for you to do is to get in touch with Plumbers Los Angeles or any other reliable plumbing company, and ask what you have to do to keep your plumbing system in good condition.
