Obviously you’re not going to find the ideal software system right out of the gate as every business has it’s own unique needs, so shop around a bit. 1) What sort of business are you running?
A businesses software needs can differ vastly based on its function. If you run a retail based clothing boutique, you will need a different system to say, a fish market. It is also a good idea to ask the opinion of an informed individual as a lot of systems can be altered to suit your specific needs.
2) Can your hardware support the system?
It’s no good buying the swankiest software on the market if you have a PC from 1920 that runs on car batteries. All software systems have minimum operating requirements. Your available memory should be one of the first things you check.
3) How much do you know about software? Really?
You wouldn’t just go out and buy a car without consulting a few people first. Your businesses software should be the same. Do as much research as you can online and over the phone, but in the end nothing replaces the advice of someone who actually has had operating experience with the system.
