Will This Bull Market Continue?

The major stock markets have had a surprisingly good last ten weeks. I say surprisingly as from where I am sitting the economy is still in dire straits – it was only yesterday that General Motors went into administration for example. I have been asked on numerous occasions over the last couple of weeks whether this bull market will continue for the foreseeable future.

Now don’t get me wrong I am more than happy that the major stock markets from around the world have been performing so well over the last few months. I myself am a keen investor, even though I must stress that I am not a financial adviser and that I am merely a novice investor who is hoping that the “gamble” will pay off.

I just feel that at the moment people are clutching at straws, clinging on to any piece of good news and that false confidence is driving the market forward. This may well be a good thing as confidence is an essential element of any bull market.

If we are seeing such dramatic gains on “a hope” or “a feeling” how will the markets react when it sees some “real evidence” that the credit crunch is starting to ease? Well I would very much expect them to fly away and this is why I believe that this bull market will continue for some time yet – I certainly hope it does! I have had enough of those grizzly bears!

Due to the fact that I am merely going on a hunch I am not exactly putting all of my eggs into the stock market basket. I am keeping some ready cash available just in case something catastrophic happens. Rather negative hey? Or have I learnt from the mistakes of the past? I guess we will have to wait and see.
