Window Watching
When I was growing up we used to sleep with our windows wide open. We lived in a rural area in Missouri off of the interstate and up a hill, but you are still not safe. My mom's friend up the road did also, and she once told us to be careful because she woke up one night to the smell of cigarettes! No one in her house smokes, and the next nearest house to her was nearly a mile away because they had a nice little farm on a few acres of land. I remember them growing their own watermelon, tomatoes, pumpkins, you name it (they often used to win pumpkin contests), they also had turkeys and chickens! I remember collecting eggs a couple times and petting their turkeys. They would all run up to us along their fence when we were walking up the road to visit! I used to lie in bed as a child just listening to the loud crickets, and sweat thinking about what would happen if somebody tried to get into my window! I suppose that was never a concern for my parents. I always went to bed in fear as a kid. I only remember my father telling me not to ever sit in front of a window when the curtains were open because there could be somebody watching or there could be a murderer out there sniping you out. That is also true, as you do not want anyone watching your every little move, who knows what kind of person could be watching you. It's wise to take precaution. It's very foolish to think you're perfectly safe. Also, never leave your garage door open! That is an open invitation. There is an attacker on the loose here right now in my area. Nowadays, you can have an intrusion alarm system installed in your home with window contacts. For those of you who are do it yourselfers, you can now also buy the kit and install it yourself! Make sure you and your loved ones are protected today. They also make great Mother's day gifts!
