Windows Media High-definition Video

There is nothing that I enjoy more than my virtual time machine better known as high-definition video. On Direct TV PPV I am whisked back to 10,000 B.C. where I can experience the life and times of prehistoric man in amazing high-def. For something a little more recent I can be transported to Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox win over the Baltimore Orioles ending at 18 runs to 5 in HD splendor. Blasting into hyperdrive is equally enticing as I tune into Battlestar Galactica on SciFi HD.

After seeing television in the crystal clear clarity of high-definition I must admit that it is very difficult to go back to standard def. Direct TV made it easy for me to ignore standard definition programming with their 95 channels in HD. I want to have the same high-def experience when using my computer. Microsoft has made all that possible with Windows Media High Definition Video (WMV HD).

WMV HD can be viewed on any computer with Windows XP based system. It simply requires a download of Windows Media Player 9 series. There are system requirements for playing 720p video or playing 1080p video with 5.1 surround sound. Microsoft has provided a variety of sample clips to show you the outstanding capabilities of high-def using WMV HD. Included in the sample clips are a couple minutes from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Magic of Flight (IMAX) featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, and Alexander. There are multiple sample selections to view WMV HD. Some of the samples that Microsoft provides are in 720p and some are 1080p.

This media player is capable of viewing many high-definition movie titles on DVD allowing you great flexibility is selecting your HD content. You can hook up the computer to your HDTV to play awesome high-definition DVD selections in full 1080p resolution.
