Windows Startup Errors

Some of us may have experienced this before: the computer has been running fine all the time, then out of the blue, there's an error when we start the computer up. Sometimes, it's a one-off error, so if you see an error on startup, restart the computer again and see if it appears. If it doesn't show up anymore, do a system backup and you can leave the computer as it is.

However, in the event that the startup error persists, then there is an underlying problem that you should investigate. The problems are generally due to either a file that is not found, a driver that will not load properly or that a virus has corrupted your system.

If Windows is complaining on startup that a file is not found or that it cannot load a driver, you should reinstall the application that the file came from, or download the latest version of the correct drive for your Windows version and reinstall it. After this is done, you can restart the system to see if the problem still persists.

To check if a virus has infected the system, use a good anti-virus software to scan your computer. Be sure that the anti-virus software is updated before scanning. If a virus is found, follow the prompts by the anti-virus software to remove the virus from the system.

After all these is done, it's time to perform a bit of maintenance on your computer. Windows uses a database called the registry to store all the settings thats it needs in order to function properly. As time goes by, the registry retains a lot of obsolete or wrong information and it's best to remove such unneeded stuff from the registry.

Use a registry cleaner software to do this. It will save you a lot of time and will go through the entire registry to look for errors and fix them. There are quite a few registry cleaner software available on the market so it can be confusing to know which one to use.
