Wine Futures For Risk Reduction And Lucrative Investment

The operation of the vineyard for the purpose of making a premium wine quality with consistent taste and features, crucial for its branding purposes, is not an easy task. There are a number of agro-climatic factors which are of importance in the growing of grapes of a consistent quality. For this reason, after a successful harvest and after the initial process of the making of the wine, the wine is made available for the bidding in an auction called 'en primeur' or 'wine futures' while the wine is still in the barrel. The name 'wine futures' is used since it is also a medium of investment for the prospecting buyers to invest in the wine when it is available at the lowest possible prices. It is only after the bidding process is completed and the wine gets sold out while in the casket that it is bottled after two years or so.

The noted wineries reduce their element of risk by selling out their product to the buyers and using the proceeds of the same for reinvestment in the development of next crop. Another risk that they avoid is of the fluctuating price of the wines from year to year. Another benefit of this process is that the wine merchants can make good profits by selling the products at the market prices of the wines after one or two years when these are bottled and given to the buyers. Wines have their shelf life. It is not true in all the cases that the older the wine, the better it is. Wines also have an expiry date. For this reason as well, it is important to sell these well in time so that the same can be consumed in time as well.

Most of the varieties of the wines can be clubbed into two categories like the red and the white wines. The red wines are red in colour but the white wines are not ‘white’. These are yellow, gold or straw-like in appearance. The white ones are made from the juice or the skin of the grapes as well as from the juice of the red grapes. The wine tasters and connoisseurs from around the world come to participate in the auction or the wine futures for the purpose of getting hold of those wines which command good prices in the international market. Their investment brings them good returns when these wines are sold to the markets across the world at good prices after a few years.

The consumers can get these wines from these merchants who would be selling the same through their wine stores or through the online wine store fronts. The wine online buy can be done for a single bottle and also as wine gift hamper, which includes a number of different alcoholic beverages. After making a purchase online, the wines are carefully packed in the compartmentalised boxes with the right type of stuffing with papers to avoid any breakage of the bottles in transportation. Suitable instructions are also written on the boxes for the ways in which these have to be carried and handled.
