Winter Tyres - The Right Choice During Winter

Instead of purchasing new tyres specifically for winter, some motorists have begun considering remoulded tires instead of snow tyres. There some people who use the same set of tyres all round the year including during winter in order to save money. However, most people in the motoring world consider and strongly recommend snow tyres, between the months of October and April, in order to ensure safety of the vehicle as well as the person driving it.

Snow tyres are specially constructed in such a manner so that they can perform optimally even at temperatures below 7 degree Celsius. On the other hand, remoulded tires work in the same way as summer or all-season tyres. They are likely to harden and lose their grip in near freezing conditions and thus do not provide an ideal solution.

'4x4 all terrain' tyres are the only remoulded tires that can actually come close to working like snow tyres in freezing conditions. The reason being, these tires are constructed in a manner that their tread pattern is able to handle snow conditions much better than average road tyres. However, road tires are way superior to these tyres.

Snow tyres have a special silica compound made from high quality material which is expressly selected, and enables them to perform much better on snow. Remoulded tyres, however do not have this good quality material, and hence are comparatively cheaper than snow tyres. It is very unlikely to get a remoulded tyre having this material. As a matter of fact, it is next to impossible to imagine a company to produce remoulded tyres having the same quality and performance of snow tyres, as remoulded tires are chiefly produced for use during all seasons of the year.

One can conclude that remoulded tyres do not provide a correct alternative to snow tyres which should be used to ensure safety during winter.
