With Regards To Your Golf Swing, Proper Technique - The Importance Of Stretching To Prevent Injury

Are you the amateur golfer who loves the sport?  Do you find yourself out on the range a few times a week? Do you compete with your friends out on the course during weekend rounds? In your time spent on the range and out on the course, you repeatedly use certain muscles throughout your body.

Do you have certain goals that you want to achieve as an amateur golfer? Do you aim to lower that handicap? Or, do you seek to break that magical score of 80 during one of your weekend rounds? You just know that this feat would just make your golfing friends jealous of your success.   In order to reach your personal goals it is crucial that you develop a consistent golf swing, proper technique being implemented. It is also equally crucial that you develop an exercise or stretching routine in order to reduce the risk of injuries to muscles that are used in the golf swing process.

Because of the emergence of Tiger Woods in the late 1990’s, the popularity of golf has reached all-time heights. Fans of Tiger have constantly been amazed at what he has been able to achieve during his career.  Those who watch Tiger on television know that he can easily hit his drive off of the tee up to distances of 325 yards, or more. Tiger is also able to put a controlled slice, or conversely draw the ball at will to fit the contour of each particular hole, and pin placement during his round. Very few pros that compete with Tiger, even on his level, can pull of those types of feats with their golf shots.

I encourage you to study Tiger’s full swing closely. You can not fail to notice the tremendous torque and power that is exhibited throughout Tiger’s entire golf swing process. Proper technique is definitely implemented by Tiger. Tiger’s swing has been grooved through years of practice out on the range. The amount of torque that Tiger generates during his swing process puts tremendous strain on certain parts of his body, particularly within the muscles surrounding his back as well as on his left or lead leg.

It goes without saying that Tiger supplements his physical gifts by participating in a strenuous workout and exercise program. Tiger has developed a routine designed to physically benefit all parts of his body. Tiger does exercises designed to strengthen his cardio system. In addition to working with weights to strengthen the muscles throughout his body, Tiger also takes care to properly stretch his muscles as a part of his routine.

As with Tiger, all amateur golfers need to use their core in developing a consistent golf swing. It is also crucial that golfers incorporate into their routine a program of stretching exercises to keep their shoulder, back, arm, and leg muscles as supple as possible. As with any sport, muscles become fatigued through repeated movement. These muscles also lose their elasticity when you fail to properly stretch them, both before and after intense usage.

Besides my love and participation in golf, I have also been an enthusiastic road bicyclist now for over 30 years. In that sport, I know of the importance in stretching my back and leg muscles before getting on my bicycle. I repeat these stretching exercises upon conclusion of my ride. This last activity is done to prevent lactic acid from building inside the muscles within my body. Whether the activity sport be biking, running, playing tennis, or hitting a golf ball, the need to stretch your muscles is essential.

There is a program which has helped tens of thousands of amateur golfers worldwide improve their golf swing. Proper technique is taught in this system. The system teaches you to use your core muscles correctly. It also emphasizes the use of the spine as an axis while going through the swing process. Again, I cannot stress this important fact enough. Because the system teaches you to use your spine and back muscles correctly throughout the golf swing, it is crucial that you incorporate a stretching program as part of your daily routine. Strong, supple core muscles are a requisite for reducing the risk of possible injuries.

Very few people on this planet have the ability to hit a golf ball like Tiger Woods. However, you can still be smart as Tiger by how you treat your body. Incorporate a daily stretching routine as a part of your preparations in playing the game of golf. This is crucial as you get older because muscles begin to atrophy with the natural aging process.   Failure to pay attention to your body – by not following a proper exercise routine designed to stretch the muscles in your body, makes you prone towards having some type of injury.
