Women And Self Esteem: Enjoying The Holiday Season. 3 Tips To Safeguard Your Values, Finances And Waistline

Wow... the staff parties, the family get-togethers, the malls, the desserts, and the sales, the gift , the price tags...it goes on and on and on.

There is so much of everything at this time of the year! It's no wonder so many women get swept away in the spirit of loving and serving and giving.

Yes, all the excess truly comes from a heart space of love.

Unfortunately, we can love and get loved to overwhelm by the food and the spending. All that 'loving' can leave us with a New Year's hangover when our clothes don't fit and the bills come in.

Here are 3 Tips to walk through the season and emerge in January with your values, finances and waistline intact.

1.See yourself as a strong empowered woman who participates by choice rather than by whim. If last January required a list of resolution for better behaviors, and you don't want a repeat, you need to lay it out.

Put your big girl attitude on and take responsibility now, before you get swept away.
See yourself feeling great in January about the powerful choices you made one day at a time, one feast at a time, one party at a time, one mall and price tag at a time.

2.You need a vision, a plan.
Take a look at the big picture. What does this season really mean to you? How would you like to express your love and creativity in alignment with your values?

Write it out. Be specific. Make sure your vision feels empowering and good.
Don't be swept away on the tide of excess by the machine of consumerism. Hold steady to your values and your boundaries.

Create a budget for your finances that you will feel good about in January. Decide which foods you will allow into your body. Be honest with yourself.

3.Give yourself permission to say "No, Thank you" to any offerings that do not fit in your vision.
If Aunt Rosie's 'Death by Chocolate Cheesecake" will not support your nutrition food plan, do not feel obligated to eat it. Aunt Rosie will still love you if you say, "No, thank you Auntie" and as a bonus, you will love you too.

If the cheesecake dessert is in your nutrition food plan, then by all means, enjoy it, and while you are at it, have a piece for me...

You are a full-grown woman. You have complete personal power available to you. Do what you want with your eyes open. Make each decision from that place of power.

The important thing is that you take the time to look at the big picture before you hit the slippery slope, which so many of us know so well.

The slippery slope that says..."Oh, what the heck, I've blown it anyway... Aunt Rosie, can I have another big glass of eggnog to wash down this second helping of your fabulous cheesecake...?

Wishing you much peace and lots and lots of personal power this holiday season.

Namaste.
