Use Assembly Blocks One of the first things that just about everybody will use, involves the assembly of wood pieces. Imagine you have just started a rather ambitious project and are now at the point where all the things have to be place together. How are you holding all those pieces in position at the same time? The way to work around this dilemma is to use assembly blocks. They may take a little effort to create, however they hold items very nicely in position. They look as tiny square blocks made from medium density fiber wood and even plywood. Just create some intersecting grooves into a block of wood and there you have the first assembly block. How easy is that! In fact you can simply go into a store and get assembly blocks, however why not create it a project to build your own? It's definitely cheaper and more rewarding. They are really useful when putting parts together. Simple Is Best. You are simply starting out, so don't make a try to put together probably the most difficult project that you can think of. Start with something simple, sort of a box, or a shelf. Do not feel bad that your first project is not overly difficult, since no one ever created a full size deck on the first try. Finish First You cut and assemble all of your parts separately, but at some point you may need to apply stain to the wood. This must to be done BEFORE you actually put your project together. Since if you set the pieces as one first and then stain, you will learn very fast that you have created spaces that are hard or maybe not at all to stain. This is a bad situation that could end in a scrapped project. Worse yet, you may end up applying excessive stain to the project. Though, if this does happen, dab it up with a wash cloth. Be Sure You Have All The Right Tools And Funds Before Starting A Project One thing that happens to several people is that they will begin a new project and once they are halfway done they notice they do not have a specific tool that is needed or they may not have the money to get all the materials needed. This is a fun hobby used to relax, don't let it stress you out due to money, just stay with projects within your price range. As you can imagine, there are many more woodworking tips out there.
