Rouges are fun to play due to their fast hitting nature for great sustained dps as well as their ability to go into a fight and only get hit two to three times. Rouges rely on energy which regenerates faster than mana though you only can get up to 130 energy but most stay at 100. They also use things called combo points to deal "finishing moves" that can do a number of things from high damage to increased attack speed. A rough must use small skills in his arsenal to gain combo points for these attacks.
Lastly rouges rely on poisons to help them do the dirty part of their jobs.

Rouges can also stealth, aka become invisible to enemies around them, this can really come in handy in all aspects of the game.

Assassination rouges really shine in pvp and in some raiding due to their fast hard hitting nature focusing on finishing moves.

Combat rouges are a good versatile build which deals strictly in upping survivability through damage and damage mitigation.

Subtlety rouges deal a lot with crowd control as well as pluses to your stealth abilities. Its said that in this build your opponent should rarely be able to do anything due to the extended periods of stun lock that they should be in. This build is another build that is great all around and has uses in pvp, raids, or soloing.
