How would you like to own a really expensive watch? You might be able to get one just like New York financier, Henry Graves Jr had. In 1999 Sothebys sold it for $11 million. It was so expensive because each hour of the day has a different horological function. It also shows a map of the night sky over Graves home. It took three years to design and five years to make. No doubt Graves had other watches to tell the time while he waited. Patek Philippe, the clever fellow who made Graves watch and many others, also made the worlds most complicated watch. Called the Calibre, it was to celebrate his firms 150th anniversary. It had 33 extra functions and contained 1,728 parts. It could tell the date of Easter and contained a chart of 2,800 stars. There are other watches that cost more, like Chopards $25 million bracelet watch of diamonds, but the worth is in the surrounding gems, rather than the actual timepiece. Other expensive timepieces retail for over $1million and less. Luckily, we dont have to pay that much to tell the time. In fact with clocks and watches in all our modern electronic games and equipment, we hardly need to bother with a watch at all.
