Xhtml – New Language Of The World Wide Web
HTML or Hyper Text Markup Language is considered as the standard publishing language of the World Wide Web used in electronic document exchange, document management, and document publishing. On the other hand, XML or Extensible Markup Language is used to describe computer data. Both these functions and features are combined to form a new member of the XML markup language, and that is the XHTML. XHTML enables to deliver the extended versions of the HTML text written on the web pages. It has become easy and convenient for users and developers to make the transition from HTML to XML. This way they not only enjoy the benefits but also stay at peace with high level of data security. All the transformed documents are compliant to XML and can easily be read, viewed, and edited with standard tools of the XML. It also helps improve operation and enable utilization of applications like scripts and applets that rely either upon the HTML Document Object Model or the XML Document Object Model. The new markup language was developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). It delivers a well-structured and consistent format to ensure easy and convenient processing of web pages in various browsers. The new language is compatible to many browsers, offering accurate and effective operation. With this, developers can easily maintain, edit, and format their websites. Over the period of time, it has improved the work efficiency of developers and software professionals, making their work life easy and comfortable. XHTML with all its features and functions has proved to be a blessing to all computer users, offering numerous benefits over the traditional markup languages like HTML and XML.
