Yamaha Planning For 10% Indian Market Share

The year 2009 has been pretty bad for all the two wheeler manufacturers in terms of sales and this was true even for Yamaha, the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturers. The net loss for Yamaha was 216.15 B yen. In order to improve their sales worldwide Yamaha is looking at Indian two wheeler market. They are taking necessary measures to improve their sales by 10% in the next three years.

They are proposing to achieve this by introducing new models in Indian market and also appointing more number of dealers. The current market share of Yamaha in India is about 2.34% and they are interested in increasing this to 10% in the next three to four years.

Takahashi of Yamaha motors said that Indian two wheeler markets are fast growing and they want to focus on this market for their sales. They will produce two wheelers from India and China wherein two wheelers can be produced at low cost.

The brand ambassador for Yamaha two wheelers is the actor John Abraham and he launched three new models of Yamaha two wheelers – SZ-X, SZ and YBR125. The bikes SZ-X and SZ have 153CC engines and YBR125 will be equipped with a 123CC engine. The Delhi showroom pricees for these models vary from 47,000-52,000 rupees.
