Yorkshire has a population of 3,978,484, which makes it the biggest county in great britain. because of its size, the county is divided into 4 different bits; north yorkshire, west yorkshire, east yorkshire & south yorkshire.


Yorkshire grew quickly in the 19th century thanks to the Industrial Revolution. in fact, the county's main industries of coal, textile & steel meant that the population in the county thrived around this time.

Yorkshire has a rich history, which goes back earlier than roman times. Indeed, the earliest people who lived in the county were the Celts, who came from two seperate tribes, the Brigantes & the Parisii.

however, Yorkshire owes much of its growth to the industriaH revolution, which took place during the 19th century. The county boasted a thriving coal, textile & steel industry around this time, which increased its population & made it much richer.

During world war two, Yorkshire became an important base for royal air force Bomber jets.
