You Can Dine Out Without Jeopardizing Your Weight Loss Program
You can go out to a nice restaurant, eat and enjoy yourself without worrying about jeopardizing your diet. All you have to do if follow a few recommendations and you can spend that time with your dinner date guilt free. Weight loss is a journey and we have to deal with circumstances as we encounter them so follow these few recommendations and learn to dine out and have fun.
* Make a decision about where you plan to dine. Contact the restaurant and ask them to send a menu to you by faxing or sending the menu via e-mail. Review the menu and decide what entrée will meet your diet plan guidelines.
Sometimes plan changes and if you end up going elsewhere for your meal do not panic. Just go with the flow and remember what works in your plan. Just cut back on the breads and other foods that are not consistent to your program.
*You need to remember that vegetables should be a big part of your meal. You need to make vegetables the biggest part of your meal; be sure to include a vegetable dish instead of potatoes with all the trimmings. Most restaurants are happy to comply with your wish to have vegetables instead of potatoes.
Be sure to order yourself a salad if it is offered and make sure that you order the salad dressing on the side. Remember to use moderation into all your choices so limit the amount of dressing you put on your salad.
*Always keep in mind what makes a good portion size when ordering. Remember what constitutes a proper portion size of protein when ordering your meal. The proper size of protein is about the size of a deck of cards or about the size of the palm of your hand. That 16 oz steak is bigger than you need when a smaller cut will fit better into your diet program.
*Drink a glass of water before meeting your party for your meal. Continue to drink your water throughout your meal. It will help to curb your appetite and keep you from over indulging on the other items on the table.
If there are any comments about your meal choices all you have to do is let them know that you are trying to shed some weight and are on a health kick. Most people will be happy that you are making the move to be healthy.
