You Can Use Astrology Today!

Astrology is not just a matter of sun signs, You can use astrology today to plan your life according to the rhythms of the cosmos. Why do you suppose most people’s lives are so hassled and stressed and unfulfilling? It’s simply because modern society has gotten so far away from the natural cycles and rhythms of the universe. People in pre-industrial societies usually worked much harder than we moderns do; and for much less reward. On the other hand, they had a sense of place, of belonging, of purpose; which we moderns entirely lack. Life in agricultural societies obviously revolves around the ebb and flow of the seasons – the annual cycle. Pre-agricultural societies daily life revolved and revolve around the monthly cycle. Modern society has no cycles, except perhaps the two-weeks’ paid vacation which makes modern life worth living. However, people could get back to that sense of connectedness to cosmic rhythms using the techniques of lunar and western astrology, just by paying attention to the Planetary Hours and the moon’s cycles in planning routine activities. Note that all systems of acting according to the moon’s cycles are valid. Vedic and western astrology, however, suggest the following basic rules:

In general, new projects and ventures should commence just after the new moon. On the other hand, things should be harvested or brought to completion just before full moon (note that this is one difference between Mayan and western astrology: the Mayans both plant and harvest just before new moon. Which method is correct? They both are! It doesn’t matter what technique you use so long as you use the same method consistently. All that matters is taking the moon into account.)

Gardening activities are best carried out at night by the light of the moon. Nighttime is when plants are the most alive and vigorous, and it is much easier then to tune into the feelings of the plants and for them to tune into your feelings. When you can, garden nude at night (it’s a lot more fun that way too)! The waning moon – especially when it is in the unfruitful signs such as Aries, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Aquarius –is used for destruction: clearing the land, weeding, spraying, cutting firewood, and pruning. The waxing moon – especially when it is in the fruitful signs such as Taurus, Cancer, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces – is used in astrology today for planting crops, grafting, and propagating. Use the waning moon in a fruitful sign for activities relating to decomposition, such as fermenting, wine and beermaking, cheesemaking, pickling, breadmaking, and garden composting.

Building and construction should commence or be carried out under a waxing moon located in a masculine sign (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius). Maintenance and improvement or embellishment should commence or be carried out under a waning moon in a feminine sign (Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces).
