You Heard It Here First, Sun Country Airlines Is Back With A Vengeance

After the fall of Braniff Airlines, a group of motivated employees put their minds together and developed Sun Country Airlines. That company had gone under, and these motivated people wanted to start their own flying operation. The airline went a long way in their run of nearly twenty years, and in December, 2001, they went out of business due to the events of a few months before. But a short while later Sun Country Airlines was breathed life-giving air by an investment group. That is what this company has demonstrated time and again in the face of harsh economic times.

Only 33 employees were on board when Sun Country first began scheduled flights. Yet they were all experienced airline people; having been working for Braniff Airlines prior to Sun Country. Even the pilots and flight attendants pitched in and did multiple jobs. That should come as no surprise at all since they had to get things done no matter what. The end result was a profitable company in several months. Sun Country Airlines announced in early July of 2010 their placement in Travel & Leisure Magazine as a top 10 domestic airlines. This recognition is part of T & L's World Best Service Award for 2010. This award is based on the surveys of those who actually fly the various airways. The pool of eligible airlines included domestic carriers of all sizes. Being included makes Sun Country feel especially warm and fuzzy.

December 2009, Sun Country gave a real treat to almost 100 kids with a fairy tale flight to the North Pole. They gave it the obvious name: A Flight To The North Pole. This was a tremendous gesture by Sun Country who worked with local chapters of Big Brothers and Big Sisters along with United Way. The whole intent was to make a small group of underprivileged children very happy over the Christmas season. The employees told the children about flying to the North Pole, all the while they were just taxiing around on the airfield. Even though they may seem regional Sun country is not a large operations. Although they are a popular hot spot carrier when it comes to flights to places like the Caribbean Islands or Mexico among others. The company was originally started by people who worked for Braniff airlines. This was as a result of Braniff's demise. It was no secret that they would depend on a high quality customer experience to pull them through this long journey to get where they are today.
