Every type of device you purchase offers some type of entertainment within it's build. All of them have an ability to accomplish tasks and have multiple purposes. It's not possible to have a phone which doesn't also have a camera and a video camera along with a ton of applications for games and to read books along with who knows what else.

The divisions between something just to use and something with too much stuff is blurring more and more, similar to the smart phones and home computers. The same goes with music. Where it used to be that you had to carry around the actual format that you listened to, whether it was a cassette tape or a CD, now everything is digital. The manufacturers want you to use the same phone device to listen to your digital music. People want all of their devices to multitask and for one device to do all things. You want to make a phone call or listen to music or play a game or watch a movie, you can do all of those things with one device that fits in your pocket.

The only problem is dealing with such a small interface, but even those have gotten better over the last couple of years. With the touch screens and the whole face of the phone becoming the input device; it has gotten easier to use the devices, especially for people with fat fingers.

There are other options such as something a bit larger such as a net book. It is a very small laptop that can fit in a purse or a bag easily and provides access to your media and the internet, but it's not so small that you have a hard time using it. Mostly it provides all that a laptop does but in a very small presentation, not pocket size though. They provide a convenient way to access everything and they are very popular, particularly the choices with an interface that's a touch screen. They have a good memory that can carry your files, music, play movies and are lightweight to take on the go.
