Your DeKalb Farmers Market began in 1977 as a small local produce stand in the east Atlanta suburb of Decatur. Since that time they have grown ad expanded to become a true world market. With 140,000 square feet of space, this private market has served up to 100,000 customers weekly. The market provides high quality fresh food including produce, meat, and seafood. There is a large selection of fresh and organic products.

Fresh produce is brought in directly from the growers several times each week. In addition to a large variety of popular fruits and vegetables, they carry exotic and ethnic produce not found in the typical chain grocery stores. There is also an extensive floral department.

Meats carried at the DeKalb Farmers Market include naturally raised turkey and cage free chicken, Certified Angus beef and certified organic fed beef. They also carry lamb, goat, veal, and rabbit. Shoppers will find smoked meats and varieties of fresh sausages. The extensive seafood market includes many varieties of fresh and salt water fish. There are farm raised and wild caught fish as well as live shellfish from which to choose. The seafood comes in directly from a worldwide network of providers.

The market has a large department of international food items imported from all over the world. Buyers will find more than 30 varieties of coffee, including Fair Trade. The dairy department carries over 400 types of cheeses as well as many organic dairy products. The onsite bakery offers fresh breads, rolls, muffins, cakes, cookies, and pastries every day. The market also has a beer and wine department. Shoppers will find domestic and imported beers as well as wines from all over the world.

The Market Restaurant has freshly prepared foods that shoppers can eat there or take out. Specialty products include their own all natural, preservative free pastas, pizzas, lasagna, soups, and sauces. Enjoy their extensive salad bar or vegetarian dishes. The restaurant is open daily from 11am-8pm.

Buyers may be tempted to try something new and different from the wide variety of international food items that are available. The market is located at 3000 E. Ponce de Leon Avenue in Decatur, Georgia. It is two miles inside I-285 off Exit 40. Hours are from 9am-9pm daily. The market accepts cash, checks, and debit cards. They do not accept credit cards.
