Your Most Hated New Year’s Resolution
My all time most hated resolution though, that I heard year after year and the people I know obsess over for a month, sometimes two, but usually for just a couple weeks – getting out of debt. Now the theory here is all well and good and in essence it’s a really awesome idea but for most of us and especially in the current economic state, it really is virtually impossible. It’s like the old saying “Robbing Peter to pay Paul” – this is essentially the story of most of our lives. Many of the people that I have known that seem to take on this resolution unsuccessfully each year, they go at it very strictly, they can’t go out for a drink after work, won’t splurge on a new outfit for an event and start packing their lunch every day. These generally are the same people that 2-3 months later have cars full of shopping bags, have miraculously found the money for an exorbitant vacation and are looking at only the best summer camps for their kids for the coming summer vacation. Whatever happened to moderation? How about you go out only a couple times a month, limit yourself to new clothes only when you find a really good sale and take a road trip this summer and camp along the way? Try something new, you just might find it works great.
